The Intel Celeron N4000 is a lower-end processor you can find in affordable laptop PCs. As a basic CPU, it has only two cores with a single computing thread per core. On the positive side, the Celeron N4000 has a decently high maximum clock speed of 2.6 GHz, an unusually large 4 MB cache for the budget processor category (as opposed to more common 1 MB or 2 MB), and a power-efficient design with a power consumption of 6 Watts. Furthermore, thanks to its good thermal characteristics the N4000 enables fully fan-less and totally quiet designs of notebooks with it.
Intel Celeron N4000 Benchmark
The Intel Celeron N4000 benchmark results indicate the chip is among slower notebook CPUs. Nevertheless, it is a decent solution for non-demanding day-to-day tasks. It’s suitable for light web browsing with a couple of browser tabs opened simultaneously, work in Microsoft Office programs, movie watching, or web conferencing. For heavier duties like video editing, notebooks with mid-range and high-end CPUs like the Intel Core i-series are recommended. But, these aren’t as cheap as the Celeron N4000-equipped laptops and they must use cooling fans.
The Intel UHD 600 graphics which is embedded in the N4000 is a very basic graphics processor. So, laptops with the Celeron N4000 / UHD 600 can run only the most basic PC games.

Due to the manufacturing process, there are never two identical microprocessors …
You can also have small differences in software configuration that you have on each computer. Maybe in a Windows it executes more processes in the background while the application is running, etc … -

Yes, the Celeron N4000 supports up to 8GB RAM. Just make sure your laptop has a RAM slot if you want to upgrade, since notebooks with this processor sometimes only have RAM soldered on-board.

It runs world of warcraft classic. Bought this for my 7 year old daughter, it was $150. I install wow classic to see if it ran at lower settings, it did. Got to play in the plane without having to bring my big heavy gaming laptop.

Hi, I really wouldn’t recommend this processor for any serious work like programming. I don’t know what servers you use and if they require a lot of computing power, but the N4000 is among the slowest processors on the market. It very likely won’t be able to easily run the servers and multiple browser tabs at the same. That said, it is possible that your programs will work, but very likely there will be hiccups.
Depending on software / servers you use, I would recommend you to get at least the 8th Gen or newer Intel Core i3 series for your work, and preferably 8th Gen or newer Core i5 / i7. Or the AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 series.

The Intel Celeron N4000 actually performed better than I expected.
I ran some games such as DmC: Devil May Cry, Sleeping Dogs, Borderlands 2(at 720p with some tweaks, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm revolution, Deadpool, Assassins Creed Rogue, Batman Arkham Asylum, Saints Row 3, Devil May Cry 4 (at 720p with all settings on low) and the other games listed above, I ran at a custom resolution of 960×540 and some others at 800×600 and to my surprise they all gave a decent fps of about 23 – 30(Some even performed better) and I’m pretty sure if a some are ran at 640×480, better results will be produced.
So, if you’re looking for a budget PC which can perform fairly demanding tasks, I think it’s an okay processor.
Besides, all the above games were tested on the Hp Stream 14 with 4Gb ram, so if you were to get a notebook having 8Gb ram, that’s even better.
That’s my verdict on it. -
I would say it depends on if one has things running in the background or if one laptop was unplugged because some laptops tend to run a little slower while on battery to conserve power

I have problems playing minecraft with N4000. PC restarts, and I suspect due to overhelming…could that be possible without fan??

Depending on the notebook’s cooling design, it’s possible that heavy load (which Minecraft is for the N4000) can cause overheating. Especially, if you have one of these fanless laptops.
I can only suggest you to check whether the laptop is in High-Performance power mode. If it is you can try to use Balanced mode instead. It’s in Control PanelHardware and SoundPower Options.
Also, have you tried Minecraft version from the Microsoft Store instead of Java-based one (I assume you run Java-based one)? Java Minecraft tends to load the processor more than the one from MS Store.

I have N400,RAM (4GB),64BIT.My laptop runs kinda bad when I even open browser CPU maxes to 100% in the start it maxes up to 100% at one point it’s ”system interrupts” mostly I bought this laptop for school mainly for ”Photoshop” and I love music so I have always open app called ”spotify” and after couple minutes I have CPU again maxed to 100% and photoshop starts to work slower .

Can’t tell for sure which FIFA version, but generally the older version the better if you have a slow processor like the N4000 and no more than 4GB RAM. Please keep in mind that the N4000 and its integrated graphics are among the weakest laptop CPU / GPU combos for gaming, so you can’t expect very good performance. Especially if you have single-channel 4GB RAM (very common in N4000-powered laptops) instead of dual-channel and at least 8GB.

Finally I can improve the performance by increasing the TDP. The tutorial is for N4100, but works in N4000

I use N4000 for drawing, the graphic is good. when I connect to pen tablet only can do duplicate screen. but no big deal, since I still can divide 2 views in one screen.. I tried use animation app like blender and vroid. it’s no problem. only with my memory capabilities I have, I need to directly save it out in external memory. Again no big deal. I use multiple things at once. speed fast too.
It’s too heavy for complex video editing like black magic.

I would definitely recommend Fifa 16 for a processor of this power. Made back in 2015 makes it at most 6 years old, which means less horsepower has to be used, and it still has the core features of all Fifa games. Personally, 16 is my favorite game in the franchise. It can also be ran on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and even Android and Iphone! This processor should be able to handle at least that.

You mean VirtualBox not VisualBox, apparently. The Celeron N4000 supports virtualization, so that should work on it. I’m only guessing, since I haven’t done it, but based on the N4000 specs it should work.

This CPU has a burst frequency of 2.6Ghz. It also supports AES-NI and vt. At the same price you can get an i3. For real graphic works, or even watching a full screen 1080 video you absolutly need something faster (whatever your screen size, I mean the stream) even if it can decode a 4k video you won’t be able to see anything serious above 720p. There is a very low multitask too, as exemple, if you play youtube background on your i5 you won’t be able to get it on high loads on you atom N4000 cpu. Homever, why not switching to an i3? If like me you like fanless laptops you won’t have alternative, this is the price to pay, that’s the consequence in choosing fanless notebooks ;-).

lol, right click on energy and choose your settings. The problem remind the same, fanless mean you’ll need to slow down or freeze to cold.

That’s will be useless, you CPU is not fast enought to do a such invest, to me a such card is a good solution from a i5 architecture, not under. Save money and switch to a regular setup.

Your actual CPU doesn’t have any 3D compliant chip. It is not designed for 3d gaming, graphics consume memory, and cpu time, your computer is too slow for most 3d based video games, try the sims, you’ll encounter the same problems. For such games, you should use an i5 range computer and an NVDia based video card (even a small one with only 2Gb dedicaced ram). This is definitively not what you have.

You really confuse things, you N400 is a fanless CPU, that mean slow, very slow because we cannot escape heat. The 100% you see is very commun on such CPU with scallable frequencies. You have no CPU range under this one. Atom => i3 => i5 => i7 => i9. Fanless is not made for high loads, it has been designed to run hours on low loads or embed devices.

What can you do with a first price VPS? You could with this CPU. This is a very good choice for a standalone server wich don’t required high CPU load. As exemple, you can host many projects and databases running django, symphony, things like mysql and some nosql db, or gitea. As a developper you should know a server don’t mean anything, this is a fanless CPU, it save much energy, if you plan doing some build over it that could even be possible. If you plan to do intensive builds or video manipulations over just switch to something fitting your needs. You can test the complexity of your algorithms (time and space) to check or estimate using the O. From your own CPU you can easily estimate the compatibility. Anyway, this is a good CPU for most servers when you need to save energy, your infrastructure always depend of your needs.
