The AMD A8-7410, just like its 6410 precursor, is a lower-mid range notebook processor. Both chips deliver very similar performance, with the A8-7410 being only a tad faster. In the real world use, it means smooth operation during day-to-day home and office tasks, but for heavier stuff like multimedia production, recommended are faster chips like the AMD A10 or Intel’s Core i5 and i7 series, especially quad-core i7. True, the A8-7410 also has four cores, but performance-wise it is comparable to the more popular dual-core Intel Core i3 series. Just like the majority of mainstream laptop CPUs, the A8-7410 consumes 15 Watts of power.

The A8 processor has the Radeon R5 integrated graphics, with similar performance to the Intel HD 5500 / 520 series found in the current Intel Core chips. This means it can run decently smooth light and casual games like League of Legends and Minecraft, but also some more demanding titles on the lowest graphics settings.

As one of it greatest benefits, the A8-7410 is a budget-friendly chip. You can usually find it in sub-$500 mainstream notebooks.

My A8-7410 with R5 graphics has 8GB of RAM with 1GB vram and 2.2 G-Hertz but its not really performing gaming wise even with all these specifications. I cant tell if I need an update or the system isnt powerful enough please explain more.

is it your graphics card dedicated or integrated?? Some laptop has R5 Radeon Graphics, but it’s integrated and if you have 8GB of RAM, the VRAM for the GPU is 1GB… To check your laptop graphic card, please download AMD Catalyst control for more info…

                  Cheers!

does it have a dedicated GPU or i? I’ll recommend you to buy Lenovo G41-35 with 4GB of RAM and dedicated R5 M430 2GB Graphics card….

Hi Steve, can you please review the newly released 7th gen A9-9400? I am rather curious about this A9 line, since it is only dual core with only 1MB cache, quite a downgrade from the A8 line.

                        Thanks!

I want a laptop for my family. It will be used for watching movies and internet surfing and some casual stuff like Microsoft office but not too intense. Is HP APU Quad Core A8 – (4 GB/1 TB HDD/Windows 10 Home) 15-BG004AU(price = 340$) Laptop a good choice??. Also, will it be ok to use it for some multitasking without any lag?

                            Or Dell Inspiron Core i3 6th Gen – (4 GB/1 TB HDD/Windows 10 Home) 3467 Laptop (Price = 450$) ??

Hi, both the A8 and Intel Core i3 are sufficient for the tasks you mentioned, but the i3 is better in terms of power consumption and heat. Otherwise, they are pretty close performance wise and are very good CPUs for the daily tasks.

same issue for me, I design after my 1TB harddrive crashed, I put in 5oogb, but it didnt take long before it started slowing down. From loading windows to general slow peformance. Which never used to be!!! I am trying to figure out the issue. Because i dont know if i should buy an additional RAM (current is 8gb) or buy an SSD? please did anyone here face similar situation and how did you solve it?

Hi, replacing your HDD with an SSD drive will make a huge difference for sure, regardless of other factors. Your problems appear to be related to that. Upgrading RAM to more than 8GB makes sense only if your RAM usage goes above 8GB. You can monitor RAM usage it in Windows Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC).

using HPslimline DT but same MB as laptop. diagnostics even reads it as a laptop. AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.20 GHz. it does have a 2nd ram slot thatll hold another 8gb ram ddr3 . So 16 gb ram isnt bad but thats the end of the upgrading except for putting in an SSD but once spent ur getting close to just buying a better product. I manage to game w/sata 3 HD 8gb ram and e.thing geared for the game even then the FPS are at best 30, usually less. its not a gamer!
