The AMD A12-9720P (7th Gen) is a lower-mid-range laptop processor. Its performance is comparable to the more popular Intel Core i3-7100U. The A12-9720P is a quad-core CPU, but it supports only one computing thread per core. For comparison, the i3-7100U had two cores but also two threads per core. That and small cache size of 2MB are main reasons why the A12-9720P isn’t exceptionally fast, despite its quad-core design and relatively fast clock speed of 2.7 – 3.6 GHz.
AMD A12-9720P Benchmark
In the real-world use, the AMD A12-9720P can easily handle usual day-to-day PC tasks, like web surfing, work in MS Office and similar productivity software, or multimedia playback. If you need more computing power for heavier tasks like video editing, recommended are newer quad-core chips such as the AMD Ryzen series or 8th Gen Intel Core.
As for graphics performance, the AMD Radeon R7 integrated in the A12-9720P is a basic graphics processor. However, it can run many of the popular games:

I just got an HP notebook15 with AMD A12-9720P processor but it has 8Gb DDR4 ram + a Radeon 530 2Gb Graphics card in. Can you advize me on how you think it will perform if I want to use it for Online Trading and how I can upgrade it for better performance for said Trading , for example more Ram or better Graphics card. Any comment and recommendations would be appreciated -

it can handle every day tasks quite well in fact i have the same thing AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7 and it has no problem with everyday tasks the only reason i would upgrade is because you want to game on your pc in which case the AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7 would not cut it you get terrible fps (frames per second) and the cpu just doesnt cut it but if your not gaming and just want to use it as a trading laptop i wouldnt change it other than maybe a ssd just for faster handling of files

The A12 handles many Fps shooters Like Destiny 2 and Halo 3 and 4 on low settings , it runs many games at 30fps or higher, considering that most of your cinematic replays are at 24fps the A12 does incredibly good for its price range. The benchmrks for the I3 may be better but for the price and its performance …. Ill take the A12 any day!!

I have this exact laptop in the specifications, and from my experience. It’s pretty janky. Both downloaded 4K videos or on YouTube. It skips a lot and has trouble keeping up with the audio.

On mine, it has 4C + 8G. Don’t know if there are other variations of this laptop.

You may have to many background processes running, clear your tool bar of any programs your not actually using, also check your net work speed and see if you have more than 4 or 5 devices running on your net work!!

Yes, it can, but it won’t run as smoothly as on newer AMD Ryzen or Intel Core processors.Sorry, I have to take this back. It looks like the particular AMD A12-9720P CPU model isn’t officially on the list of CPUs supporting Win 11.

Unless you can install Windows 11 with bypass TPM, CPU and RAM, however, I warned you that you should use Intel or AMD Ryzen, because my experience of using AMD A series on Windows 11 or 10 is very laggy.
